Medical Clearances at Shield Telehealth Medical Services
Ensuring the Health and Readiness of Your Team
When a person is arrested and has a medical complaint and or a history of a medial illness then prior to being able to continue through the booking process an “Okay to Book” is needed. Nearly 98 percent of in custody medical complaints can be handled by our medical providers without the need of hospital emergency department services. Our medical staff will conduct pre-booking exams to determine if the arrestee can be medically cleared for booking. Officers can now transport arrestees to their local city jails where the entire booking process and medical examination will take place. If the arrestee requires a higher level of medical care our staff will inform the officer and or watch commander on duty of such a need and direct the person to a local emergency department, is there is a question about whether an arrestee can be seen by a medical provider our Telehealth service can also expedite that process as well. This will offset the unnecessary cost and time of transporting the arrestee to a local emergency room.
Having our services allows officers to return to patrol services in a quick and efficient manner. Through our Board-Certified Medical Director all our medical staff have standardized procedures relating to all aspects of medical care in place as set forth by the American Academy of Emergency Physicians and the American Medical Association.
